Christmas is looming on the horizon which means one of the common marketing errors is about to make an appearance. Its time for the Marketing card disguised as a Christmas card to appear. Please don’t give mixed messages this Christmas.
If you want to send some marketing material then send some marketing material nothing wrong with that at all. The confusion comes when the Christmas card is actually a card with a company message on, or a flyer or business card inside it. This message actually says i’m using Christmas as an opportunity to sell you something.
Its much better to just send a Christmas card or even a thank you card to your best people and clients with a personal message in. This way you are genuinely thanking people for being a client or part of your referral network.
By sending a personal card you obviously remind people about you and they will then connect you with your company product or service anyway. The difference here is, there is no blatant “remember to buy our stuff this Christmas”. This method taints the message and will put doubt in the recipients mind around your reason for sending it.
Christmas is a time for thanks so just keep your message around that to avoid any mixed message confusion.
