Whether you believe you can or you believe you cannot either way you are right.
Dave Verburg’s Story
Mum and Dad worked really hard when I was younger, they provided many of the basic needs for a successful family life, including a nice house and two weeks holiday a year. The biggest thing they struggled to give us though was time and the funny thing with time is once its gone its gone you can’t get it back. This has helped me be aware of how and who I give my time to.
Having run a successful coaching and consulting business for over seven years there aren’t many business challenges that I haven’t been able to support my clients to succeed with. My key skill I would say is helping business owners structure their life in a way that drives both business and personal success.
The creative way my mind works aligned with my supportively challenging manner and the business owners drive, and commitment means success is inevitable.
My happiest times are when I’m giving to others.
I genuinely believe it is why I’m here. Over the years I’ve given my time and support to a varied selection of people and projects. One of my favourites was supporting a young man called Godfrey from Zimbabwe via regular monthly donations to Plan International for four years so he can get an education and support his family out of poverty. Godfrey did this so well he went to University in Harare with is of great credit to him.
I have a simple adage for life. “If we all do a little we could all achieve a lot”. So I encourage people all the time to give something to others so more of us can succeed.
I once spent seven years working in some of Liverpool’s most challenging areas supporting some amazing young people to believe themselves capable of more than they were currently showing. This meant working to keep them away from crime, or visiting them in prison and all the time my focus was how can I help them to make better choices so they can take control of their World and become successful.
Most business owners start a business as a way to help them create a lifestyle for themselves and their family. However running a successful business can often mean they don’t get to spend time living the lifestyle the business was designed to help them do.
This is why I do what I do. I believe passionately that having a successful business and a successful life can go hand in hand.
Dave The Speaker
As a speaker I love talking about people, relationships and beliefs. I just love people and helping them understand where their current beliefs come from and how those beliefs are giving them the results and the quality of the relationships they currently experience.
Once people understand that a belief is just a feeling of certainty and not a fact it helps them make a shift toward a better World.
That theme is as equally important for business owners. Understanding how to create better relationships and to identify the behaviours needed to improve the quality of their business connections and networks and how this will impact on the growth of their business.
Dave The Coach
Coaching people is one of my big passions in life. Helping people find their own way through their current challenges is the most rewarding thing I can do. I didn’t “discover” coaching until 2005 and I use it on a daily basis now.
My goal when coaching is to help people navigate a route through their current way of thinking to a new more beneficial way of thinking that will generate them tangible results.
A client once called me a critical friend when coaching her. By this she meant critical as an important resource for her success and critical as in my ability to review her actions and results and how they fitted with her desired outcome.
Getting your message out to the people who want to buy from you
Separating yourself from your competitors is key in growing your business. Many businesses focus on the wrong thing when trying to attract clients. When talking about their business they will focus on things such as years of trading, expertise, price etc. These are important and they tell part of your business story, however there are more important aspects of what you do and why you do it that have a much more powerful impact.
That is my favourite aspect of what we do. Helping business owners and organisations understand their key drivers and how to get this message across to their perfect clients, to create more business and work with the type of clients they enjoy working with.
