Do your best referral sources know what you do? I mean really know what you do. Do they know what aspect of your business you would like them to promote when they get the opportunity? If I was referral source for you what do I say to get you an appointment with and ideal client?
A common challenge I help my clients solve is helping them support their network in improving their referral hit rate. Business can be so competitive that saying “You should speak with (insert persons name here) as they are great and can really help you, often isn’t enough. There are so many great people in business these days. How can we educate our referral sources sufficiently to give them the edge when they have an opportunity to refer us?
One of the things we can do is to educate them on how to talk about our business as well as we can for three to five minutes. Imagine if each of our referral sources knew as much about the key aspects of our business as we did. Better still, imagine if they could talk about the products and services we want them to promote to their network as well as we could. How many more opportunities would that open up for us?
Think of your best people and then invest some time in educating each other in what you do to increase your referral hit rate. I can guarantee it would time well invested.
